Mathematics at Corpus Christi is about creativity, flexibility, persistence and problem solving.
Our Mathematics teaching and learning experiences are based on the NSW Educations Standards Authority (NESA) syllabus. Students are engaged in challenging, creative and visual mathematics tasks that reflect the latest research in brain science. Most importantly, students are involved in authentic, investigative explorations which involve ways of thinking that are logical and analytical to solve problems in today’s world. The use of equipment and resources is used to facilitate children’s understanding of connections between mathematical concepts. A positive attitude and skill development in Mathematics is enhanced through inquiry, play and visualisation.
The five broad strands of Mathematics are:
- Working Mathematically
- Patterns and Algebra
- Measurement and Data
- Space and Geometry
