On 17th September, our Stage Three (Years 5 and 6) students participated in a Night of the Notables showcase.
The Night of the Notables is a major inquiry project premised on the assumption of using heroes (or ‘notables’) as role models. Our students researched a notable person in history, which required them to work autonomously, learn advanced research skills and practise role modelling. The pedagogical aims of the project centre on the research strategies taught and higher order thinking skills in selecting, analysing and synthesising research materials.
The project culminated in a Night of the Notables showcase last week where our students displayed their work in front of friends and family. Some of our ‘notables’ included Sir Charles Kingsford Smith, John Bradfield, Dame Nellie Melba, Edith Cowan, Steve Irwin, Cate Blanchett, Olivia Newton-John, Tim Cahill and Mary Reiby.
