Multicultural Day

Today we celebrated Multicultural Day at Corpus Christi. Children celebrated the country from their cultural background by wearing clothing or the colour of the country. A gold coin donation raised money for The House of Welcome.

Today was Multicultural Day

Our justice/outreach program for this term is to raise funds for the House of Welcome.

The House of Welcome was set up by the St Francis Social Services and they work in partnership with other agencies to assist asylum /refugees with a range of practical and community support.

We kicked off the fundraising for this term with the Match the Mother & Children Photo competition.

Children were encouraged to come to school dressed for the day showing a connection with your family background. It could be ribbons, colours, flags or full costumes if you wish. The children identified with whatever the cultural connection of their family was.

A gold coin donation which will go towards our fund raising efforts.

Families can make a donation directly to The House of Welcome

In the afternoon, our Peer Support Program for 2018 was launched led by our Year 5 and 6 students where we read a story connected to multiculturism and then created a display to show the cultural backgrounds of the families at Corpus Christi.
